Site Revamp

Just a quick note that the site is currently undergoing a major overhaul of both the front and back ends, to improve its performance and usability.  Whilst we’re working on it, some features may change, but the site itself will stay up, allowing visitors to continue to read as we gear up for WMATA‘s 2012 budget discussions, as well as other local accessible transit topics.

A response to an Examiner.com article

One of the difficulties facing the MetroAccess ridership is a lack of understanding on the part of a large proportion of the public of how MetroAccess actually works.  It’s worse when bad information is published, such as an article we noticed today posted on Examiner.com.

We’d like to take this opportunity to try and clear up some of the articles mistakes.

ATU Local 689 Isn’t Helping Either

Washington Examiner: Metro racks up $1M in legal fees so far in union wage dispute

This is one of the biggest issues I’ve had with WMATA‘s claims of being in the middle of a budget crisis.

It’s not that they’re spending $1 million to date trying to get the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 689 to reduce its pay raise and benefits a little for the next four years.

Maryland Isn’t Helping

Washington Post: Md. budget puts D.C. area Metro funding in doubt

Easy solution – Metro turns right around when it reaches the Maryland border … I wonder how much that would save??

(Thanks to Unsuck DC Metro for the linkage)
