New Freedom and JARC Applications are Due April 16

[Reposted from Metro ADA eNews]

REMINDER:  Applications are due April 16.

Do you have a great idea about how to improve access to transportation for people who face mobility constraints? If so, submit your project idea for funding consideration!

The National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board is pleased to announce the 2010 project solicitation under the Job Access Reverse Commute (JARC) and New Freedom programs. Funds are available for transportation projects that improve transportation options for those who face mobility constraints.

Additional information about the solicitation and application requirements is available at www.tpbcoordination.org

Mobility Management

We want to draw your attention to a category of projects called mobility management, which provides opportunities to build coordination among existing service providers and to expand the availability of service. The federal government places a high priority on these projects, and pays 80 percent of the cost; applicants are responsible for the remaining 20 percent. Some examples of mobility management projects include:

  • Support of new travel training programs for people with disabilities
  • Customer-oriented travel navigator systems
  • Operation of transportation brokerages to coordinate providers, funding agencies and customers
  • Operational planning for the acquisition of intelligent transportation technologies to help plan and operate coordinated systems

Please note that applicants must attend a pre-application conference; if you haven’t attended one yet and/or have any questions, please contact Beth Newman at (202) 962-3253.

Applications will be accepted through April 16, 2010.
